The space
Loadshedding free bonus! The most adorable private flatlet all to yourself, with super comfortable beds, a Smart TV with Netflix, complimentary tea and coffee facilities, including a Nespresso coffee machine, unbelievably also equipped with a washing machine! It may sound too good to be true, but trust us, this flatlet and us as hosts will deliver on all these promises and more. We love to delight our guests with our service levels, but at the same time, giving you the space you need to breathe, relax and rejuvenate. Due to the high cost of electricity, an electric convection heater is made available on request at an additional charge per day to cover the increased consumption cost that will be incurred.
The flatlet is compact 35 m2 / 375 f2 that has been cleverly appointed and has many of the conveniences you'll not likely find elsewhere for it's size price point, in fact, we are confident it will just downright delight you.
The accommodation is made up of 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom ensuite, accommodating up to 3 people very comfortably (with a single pull out bed in the lounge). We limit occupancy to max 2 adults 1 child. However, if you have a great Airbnb history in your profile with positive host reviews, then we may consider more 2 adults, however this is at our sole discretion. VERY NB: If you choose to book for 3, please realize the place is small and it will be cramped, and you choose to squeeze in 3 with this understanding. If you squeeze in 3 it's because you're on a tight budget. Otherwise, if you want a bit more space, please ask us about booking our more spacious 2 bedroom Cottage on the same property.
The bedroom has a king size bed made up of two single beds placed together, made up as a king size, however if you would prefer to have this made up as two single beds, we can accommodate this if your booking is made at least 48 hours in advance of your check in. We are not able to accommodate this change if you book less than 48 hours prior to your check in.

We are not able to accommodate three persons if you book less than 48 hours prior to your check in. The third bed is stored inside a cupboard in the lounge and needs to be pulled out to be utilized. We wish to highlight that the space is small and that means that when this 3rd bed is set up, there is not a lot of space left to walk around. Please also note that as the bed is in a cupboard, there is no bedside table. Also, the cupboard doors remain open when the bed is down, so that can make getting in and out of the bed not as convenient as a normal bed. Please only book for three people with the clear understanding of the space being small.
The bathroom is full with a bath, shower-into-bath facility, toilet & basin.
The sitting area has two armchairs with cushions & blankets for your comfort, plus a 32 inch flat screen Smart TV equipped both Netflix and Open View channels.
The kitchen area has all you would need with a convection microwave oven, both an electric two plate stove and a back up gas two plate stove for when there is loadshedding. Plus a kettle, toaster, Nespresso machine, washing machine, large fridge/freezer, and all other bits & bobs you'd expect to make life convenient, life cooking utensils, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, oven dishes, and so forth. The unit is tiled in the living area and bathroom, contrasted with a softer wood laminate in the bedroom.
Our extras on offer for those that need to work on the go or are digital nomads exploring our great Gauteng. Two work stations built in with caesar stone tops. One is located in the living room and has an ergonimic office chair (not shown in pics, but it is in place), the other is located in the bedroom and has a normal sitting chair. High speed fibre WiFi internet with back up power supply by means of a UPS which provides max 7 hours additional WiFi time. When we test our internet speed using the Ookla speedtest app, it reads at +120mbps download speed, +120mbps upload speed. Please note if there is a high stage of loadshedding, this affects the ability of the UPS to recharge inbetween loadshedding sessions. If that happens, then the UPS time will be reduced but it should always be enough to last a regular loadshedding stage. There are also LED back up lights provided for when there is loadshedding.
However, you'll be happy to know that we rarely get loadshedding in our area, so you are unlikely to have that inconvenience in any case.
Guest access
You have your own separate flatlet with it's own entrance through the garage. The garage is shared with the main house.
Parking in the driveway behind the driveway gate, in front of the left hand garage door. In addition to this, there is another small parking space available inside the garage on the left hand side, for a small car. If your car is a larger size, it will not fit inside the garage.
We do not accept any responsibility for fitting all your vehicles on the property if they are oversized or long. Please do not arrive with two large sized vehicles, because they will not be able to both park on the property. No parking on the right hand side of the driveway is permitted please, as this parking belongs to the main house rental unit. If you have more than 2 vehicles, or if you have 2 large vehicles, then you must park the vehicles that don't fit in your allocated parking spaces, outside of the driveway gate. You park there at your own risk.

Our property has the benefit of being loadshedding free.
Electric heater
Due to the high cost of electricity, an electric convection heater is made available on request at an additional charge per day to cover the increased consumption cost that will be incurred. The cost will be dependent on the going rate per unit of electricity at the time of your booking, which is increased annually by the electricity service provider.
Airbnb service fees
We wish to highlight that we as your host have volunteered to pay the full Airbnb service fee for both host and guest. This saves you over 16% commission that would have otherwise been an added cost.
Languages spoken
Our co-host Maike speaks English, German and Dutch, if it is your preference to communicate in one of these languages.
Heating and air-conditioning
No air conditioning facilities are available. The bedroom has a ceiling fan and the lounge has a freestanding desk fan. There is also a portable convection heater that we supply during the winter months only.
Smoking
No smoking of any kind inside the flatlet (this includes e-cigarettes and hubbly bubbly). If you are a smoker, please only smoke in the driveway and discard of your ash and butts in a responsible manner. Please see our house rules for further information in this regard.
Neighbours
There are three other Airbnb units on the property, each with their own entrance, privacy and facilities. There is also a permanent tenant in another unit on the property.
Multiple short term rental units on the property
If you have needs as a large group, we can accommodate six persons in the Main House, three persons in the Flatlet and four persons in the Cottage. All these units are listed on Airbnb and they can be booked either separately or in combo deals.
House rules reminder
A reminder that we have a strict "No parties" policy and we require no disruptive noise after 9pm.
Cleaning
The apartment is not cleaned daily. Depending on the short term rental market trends, we sometimes opt to add a once-off cleaning fee in our booking charges. If you have been charged a cleaning fee in your booking charges, this is a one-time charge per booking for cleaning at the end of your stay. All in our cleaning team are paid a living wage.

If you would like to add cleaning during your stay, this is available at an additional charge. Please enquire with us if you would like us to arrange this for you.
Security: Automated driveway gate
All our driveways are automated with a driveway gate motor. This ensures ease of entry and exit. When there is loadshedding, there are backup battery packs enclosed within the gate motor housing. These batteries are expected to last for at least 2 hours at a time, if the gate is being actively used while the loadshedding is underway. We encourage you to not open and close the driveway gate unnecessarily during loadshedding, so as to prolong the battery life until the power supply comes back. If you get stuck with not being able to open or close the driveway gate during loadshedding, please contact us for assistance and we'll assist you in getting that sorted right away.
Security: Cameras
Please note that we have security devices on the property, in the form of recording security cameras which are operational twenty four hours a day. This is disclosed in detail in our listing. We have a total of eight cameras which monitor the entire property. We do check these cameras regularly for security purposes and to also check that unauthorized persons are not trespassing on the property. For obvious privacy reasons, there are no cameras inside the property.
