You will be staying on Skyline Boulevard which winds along the crest of the Portland West Hills and is a favorite of cyclists and has numerous trailhead access to Forest Park and Wildwood Trail.

Also an excellent choice for a work-cation, remote work or work-from-home (WFH), the Hideaway has fast internet and a fully outfitted workspace with desk, ergonomic chair and extra monitor as well as office supplies. The extra-large dining table in the main living/dining room provides additional workspace. Printer access is available upon request.

Walk to Wildwood Trail, lounge on the deck, warm up in front of the wood burning fireplace (available Oct-March and subject to air quality restrictions), stream TV shows and movies with Amazon Fire, or soak in the large hot tub... drive down the hill and cross historic St Johns bridge into funky St Johns, or be in the city in 17 minutes for food, music, entertainment and more. Take awe-inspiring day trips to the mountains or coast, or visit the vineyards in Yamhill County and the Willamette Valley. And then retreat back to your peaceful hideaway to re-group before your next foray. A real yin/yang way to explore and enjoy Portland and all the amazing things we have to offer here.

This space occupies the lower level of the house – to get there you will follow a path and stone stairs around the house and down the hill. Once inside, the main living/dining room area is lined with cedar milled from the property in the 1970’s, and the space still has a mid century vibe, but updated with comfort, functionality and style in mind.

2 large leather sofas, a classic mid century fireplace and TV with streaming make for a cozy place for cocooning. There is a large dining area with farmhouse table for eating or working. There is a second workplace/desk including a computer monitor and ergonomic chair in the bedroom, which has a tribal/primitive art motif and features a queen bed and clothes storage.

The kitchenette is brand new with reclaimed wood countertops and stainless appliances (frig, dishwasher and microwave) – please note, no traditional oven/stovetop, but we have a new Breville toaster oven that bakes, roasts, re-heats, toasts and more, and an induction burner with sauce- and saute pans with lids, for light cooking. We also offer an extensive array of additional countertop appliances, available upon request, for cooking and food prep.

Outside, on the deck, is a café table and chairs, wooden swing, grill and a large hot tub reserved for guest use (swing and grill available Spring through Fall). The property is large and guests are welcome to wander about.

This rental is a private (not shared) apartment within a larger house; the owners are on premises in a completely separate living space with a separate entrance, that is located above the Hideaway. Please note that we are quiet people but you are likely to hear some noise from above. See more info in the Guest Access and Guest Interaction sections of this listing.
